Recently, I completed the FIRST 2-month certification modular course at the ADVANCED level for EIA performers on environmental protection and rational nature management from PAEU. It was not easy, but mega informative and useful. After the training, our company's reports were almost completely revised, filled with information from new sources provided by the course's specialized experts, the experience of instructors on existing EIA procedures, and taking into account training on integrating the EIA tool into other areas (e.g., urban planning, subsoil use).

The course is innovative. An applicant for a Certificate can undergo training in one of 2 Programs, levels: "BASE" or "ADVANCED".

The training program consists of 7 or 10 modules, depending on the chosen level, and each module consists of:

- lectures with the involvement of specialized experts for each of the criteria by which environmental impact is assessed (in areas such as human health, water, air, soil, biodiversity, subsoil impact, etc.);

- practical sessions where practical cases for each environmental impact criterion are analyzed online with experts, and all questions from participants (whose number is not less than 15 people) are addressed;

- independent work after each module, which is placed on a convenient Google platform, to which you have access 24/7.

The training concludes with a Qualification Exam to confirm the compliance of the EIA performer's knowledge and skills in the form of Online testing, and almost a month later - with the submission of a final project, in my case it was an EIA Report, taking into account the developments obtained during the course.

It should be noted that the training is constantly conducted and monitored by managers who clearly and in advance plan the dates of lectures and classes, report on the results of independent work, and coordinate in case of any difficulties.

What will EIA performer certification provide? Not only the necessary knowledge for preparing an EIA report, but also:

- Confirmation of the EIA performer's and their specialists' level of training with a Certificate of Conformity from PAEU;

- Inclusion in the open register of certified EIA performers with placement on the paeu.com.ua website;

- Increased trust in the performer from EIA customers; (And we hope that eventually - also from authorized territorial bodies and the Ministry).

The frequency of confirming the compliance of EIA performers, i.e., the validity period of the fixed-term certificate, is 2 years.

Since January 1, 2019, the submission of environmental reports has changed slightly. There is no need to prepare an air report (2-TP), and there have been minor innovations regarding the completion of form 4-OS. This should be taken into account by business entities when preparing reports.
