The company LLC "Ecomanagement Group", activists of the public organization "Ecological News", @CrazyKayaks and their friends took part in the project of the international movement Break Free From Plastic and for the first time in the Kherson region organized a brand audit of garbage found in the recreation area on the bank of the Konka River (a tributary of the Dnieper).

The eco-activists did not choose the audit location by chance, because the Lower Dnieper floodplains are incredibly beautiful and are a true treasure of Kherson, and the @CrazyKayaks team is very familiar with the problem of their pollution, as they rent out kayaks. Kherson residents love to relax on the river banks - swimming, fishing, kayaking, enjoying the scenery and yacht trips. But few people know the other side of this recreation.

Brand audit is an action that begins with cleaning, but aims at something more than just tidiness. The main goal of a brand audit is to identify companies responsible for plastic pollution of the environment.

The cleanup lasted 1 hour on an area of 100 square meters, with 10 volunteers involved in the action. During this time, the team collected 3 bags of 120 liters of plastic (plastic bottles, bags, food and fishing tackle packaging, disposable tableware), the favorites, of course, were beer producers (TM "Yantar", TM "Chernihivske"), then water (TM "Morshynska"), and then disposable tableware. In addition, 1 bag of aluminum cans and 6 bags of glass containers from strong alcoholic beverages were collected. This was not part of the audit plan, but the activists simply could not leave the garbage in nature.

"We didn't even think we would find so much glass, and we weren't prepared for it," say the organizers of the action, because transporting garbage from the floodplains is not an easy task.

Vodka and fishing, it turns out, are an inseparable pair. But taking their catch with them, why do fishermen leave empty bottles and garbage?

It seems the question has no answer.

To see the problem, draw attention to it, and try to change it is everyone's business.

Ahead is still painstaking work on describing the garbage, transporting it to recycling points, and the illiquid part to manufacturers with a call to change packaging already at the design stage.

Also, all data will be sent to the NGO "Ozero" (Ukrainian coordinators of the action), and then to the central office of Break Free From Plastic, to have a complete picture on a global scale of the main corporations that need changes.

We urge you, be a wise consumer, love nature! Every action of yours has power! And your children and grandchildren will tell you: "Thank you for making the world a better place."
