In Ukraine, the Planet Saving project has been launched: alyona alyona will become the ambassador.

At the meeting with the artist, you can get cool eco-gifts, as well as autographs and photos from alyona alyona.

The Planet Saving project aims to tell residents of Kyiv, Lviv, Mykolaiv, Odesa, and Kharkiv about waste sorting rules and responsible waste management.

The ambassador of the project will be the famous rap artist alyona alyona. She was present during the signing of the memorandum of cooperation between METRO, the All-Ukrainian Association of Musical Events, and the Program for Promoting Public Activity "Engage" (USAID / ENGAGE) and at the presentation of the project in Kyiv near the sorting station of the METRO Cash & Carry Ukraine shopping center.

"METRO Cash & Carry Ukraine", as part of the global company Metro AG, implements a sustainable development strategy in Ukraine. All our initiatives are aimed at reducing the impact of the retail industry on future generations. Waste sorting is one of the components of our eco-strategy. We started this process even before our legislators paid attention to it: abandoning plastic in favor of eco-bags, cooperating with a food bank to minimize the impact of food waste, etc.," said Olesya Olenitska, Director of Cooperation with Public Authorities and Public Relations at "METRO Cash & Carry Ukraine".

Over three years, while the recycling project has been in operation, customers have brought 1200 tons of packaging waste to the sorting points of "METRO Cash & Carry Ukraine". As Andriy Tsvykh, financial director of "METRO Cash & Carry Ukraine", said, 30% of the waste handed over consists of PET bottles, 25% - waste paper, 20% - broken glass, etc.

"Over three years, at our 11 locations in seven cities of Ukraine, we have collected and sent for recycling 10 thousand cubic meters of waste - that's 1200 tons. To understand this volume, one can imagine covering the area of our METRO shopping center parking lot in Poznyaky with a 1-meter layer of garbage. This is impressive. In addition, a year ago we installed containers for collecting and donating clothes for charity. More than 15 tons of donated items have already found their new owners and received a second life. Since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, we have also joined the initiative of the Kyiv City State Administration and installed special boxes on the territory of our shopping centers for collecting used gloves and masks. To date, we have managed to safely dispose of more than 150 kg of personal protective equipment," said Andriy Tsvykh.

In turn, alyona alyona added that she herself tries to talk to her audience about environmental problems in Ukraine. She expressed hope that Generation Z has already realized the consequences of environmental pollution and it's time to fix it.

"I have not had the opportunity in my career history to travel to all cities and hold fan meetings. Usually, it takes a lot of time and creates great organizational difficulties. Secondly, when there is an opportunity to address people in cities, I always do it and raise two topics: social and environmental. It's one thing when, as in kindergarten, educating children, you can show on your fingers, and another - when people join you who make the conversation meaningful, reinforcing it with concrete things. I am happy that I can travel around the cities of Ukraine with an ecological autograph tour. For example, in Mykolaiv, I have not had any concerts yet. People there are not familiar with me. I am glad to come to other cities again and tell about such a cool and powerful initiative. Everything we do here and now today is a drop in the ocean. But everything once started with a grain. Perhaps the time has come when our country is ready. Generation Z has already realized that if we do something, it has consequences," said alyona alyona, adding that she sincerely believes in Ukraine and Ukrainians: "God grant us all health so that our children live in a better, cleaner and healthier society," the artist noted.

The All-Ukrainian Association of Musical Events states four environmental problems:

"After communicating with experts, we identified four environmental problems. The first is climate change. Current droughts are an example of this. The second problem is waste. Most people in the country do not sort garbage, and we want to change that. The next problem is clean air. For many years we have seen smog in Kyiv. The next direction is the protection of wildlife and the restoration of ecosystems. We have almost no places left where a person would not have reached in a negative sense. We believe that without changes in legislation and changes in people's behavior, it is difficult to change the situation," said Mariana Mokrynska, manager of the All-Ukrainian Association of Musical Events.

At the meeting with the artist, you can get cool eco-gifts, as well as autographs and photos from alyona alyona. To do this, you need to bring 1 kg of ready-to-recycle waste of at least two fractions (glass, paper, plastic, metal, tetrapak) to the sorting station.

Meetings will be held at METRO Waste Collection Point sorting stations. The network opened its first sorting point back in 2018 in Kyiv.

Now there are stations in seven Ukrainian cities.
