How space technologies will help protect the environment in the Kharkiv region
The region plans to cooperate with the space agency to monitor the environment from space. The Kharkiv Regional Council decided to introduce new ways of environmental protection. Among them are the use of space technologies. The press service of the Kharkiv Regional Council told about the details of new developments for environmental protection. A substantive meeting of the regional council leadership was held with representatives of the State Space Agency of Ukraine, which has a unit of the National Center for Spacecraft Control and Testing (NCSCT) in Kharkiv. During the dialogue with agency representatives, methods were discussed by which the latest space technologies can be used for surveying and monitoring the state of ecology.
An environmental protection program is currently being implemented in the region, so the regional authorities want to involve representatives of the space agency in cooperation. According to Albert Kononenko, vice-chairman of the regional council, the Kharkiv region found itself in a situation where it is necessary to look for new ways to prevent environmental pollution and violations of environmental legislation. The main goal of the regional environmental protection program is to increase the level of environmental safety.
