British Ambassador to Ukraine Melinda Simmons and Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Roman Abramovsky discussed the Ukrainian government's plans for the development of a "green" economy and the value of British experience in this area during a meeting.
"Recently, British Ambassador Melinda Simmons met with the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Roman Abramovsky. They discussed: Ukraine's commitment to combating climate change, in particular through the second edition of nationally determined contributions in accordance with the Paris Agreement; the importance of an interstate approach to climate preservation; the Ukrainian government's plans for the development of a "green" economy and the value of British experience in this area," the press service of the British Embassy in Facebook reports.
The ambassador and the minister also discussed the preparation and expectations for the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26)
"According to the Paris Agreement, each participating country must make consistent nationally determined contributions, i.e., implement internal measures to mitigate climate change to achieve the goals of the agreement. Ukraine, as one of the first countries to sign this agreement, plays an important role in this process," the embassy emphasized.
