The main norms of European legislation on atmospheric air protection and waste management will be implemented in Ukraine within the framework of the "APENA 2" project.
This is reported on the website of the State Environmental Inspectorate, which also joined the project.
"Atmospheric air protection and waste management in Ukraine will be carried out according to European standards! The State Environmental Inspectorate has joined the EU project "APENA 2" ("Support to Ukraine in approximating EU environmental legislation")", - said the head of the State Environmental Inspectorate Andriy Malyovany.
Within the framework of the project, which will last 3 years, DEI specialists will receive consultations on the development of legislative and regulatory documents.
"This long-term program provides for cooperation between DEI and international experts on the preparation of legislative and regulatory changes in accordance with EU requirements.
During the 3 years of the "APENA 2" project implementation, inspection specialists will be able to receive consultations on the creation of draft laws, resolutions and orders, participate in project activities and improve their knowledge of European legislation," - noted Andriy Malyovany.
In addition to implementing European legislative requirements, the State Environmental Inspectorate will also participate in the development of an integrated information system for waste management, and DEI employees will be able to improve their qualifications in European environmental standards by undergoing training.
"Currently, we already have a specific work plan for cooperation, which includes:
- consultations for DEI on the implementation of EU directives on ambient air quality and EU legislation on the disposal and recycling of waste from the extractive industry;
- participation in the development and implementation of an integrated information system for waste management, where information on licenses issued for waste management activities, the location of landfills and dumps, data on polluters and processing capacities will be publicly available;
- specialists undergoing training on compliance with EU environmental standards.
The result of such cooperation will be the strengthening of Ukraine's legislative and institutional system in the field of atmospheric air and waste," Andriy Malovany detailed.
