On Sunday, August 8, Ukraine exhausted its annual supply of natural resources that the environment can restore within a year. Now the country is living "on credit" from nature.
This was announced by the head of the State Environmental Inspectorate Andriy Malyovany, referring to calculations by researchers from the international organization Global Footprint Network.
"Today is the day when Ukrainians used more resources than the Ukrainian environment can restore in a year. From August 8, Ukraine lives on credit from nature," he wrote.
According to Malyovany, the only way out for humanity is to change its approach to resource consumption.
