Rejection of foam plastic, energy efficiency and recycling, ecological innovations of "Nova Poshta" in 2020

Postal operator published sustainability report for last year

1.1 million kWh – the estimated savings of "Nova Poshta" last year due to the transition to energy-efficient heaters and the replacement of lighting with LED lamps. This is stated in the company's 2020 Sustainability Report, prepared according to the GRI standard and published on the Nova Poshta website. In it, the postal operator reported, in particular, how it adhered to the "3R Principle: reduce, reuse, recycle" last year.

Thus, the company abandoned the use of foam plastic in its activities, introduced new packaging - transformer boxes with variable height, optimized boxes and launched a project for their reuse. It reported that 16,500 boxes were reused during 2 months of the pilot project.

As part of the project to install boxes for secondary raw materials, the company connected 820 branches in 118 cities. In total, 1500 branches are equipped with boxes. Almost 2 million kg of waste paper and about 278,500 kg of polyethylene were sent for recycling in 2020. This is every 6th box and every third polyethylene package.

Also last year, due to the pandemic, "Nova Poshta" implemented the maximum number of shipments since 2015 within the social project "Humanitarian Post of Ukraine": 38,500 parcels, 10% of which were with medical goods.
