According to the ecologist, such hype topics, based on powerful financial interest, discredit the environmental protection movement in our country.
Constant business inspections in Ukraine under the guise of environmental concern often have a political or economic nature, which hinders the solution of real problems and discredits the environmental protection movement itself.
Lyudmyla Tsyganok, President of the Professional Association of Ecologists of Ukraine, said this in a comment to UNIAN.
"Enterprises are not all inspected equally; in most cases, inspections are carried out for political or economic reasons. Such hype topics, based on powerful financial interest, destroy trust in the market. This does not correspond to the powerful movement observed, for example, in Europe, for environmental protection, but, on the contrary, turns this very important movement into an instrument of manipulation, economic and political struggle, and at the same time, the institution of civil society is being destroyed," Tsyganok noted.
According to her, first of all, the state should create transparent and equal rules of the game for everyone.
"The key role in this issue belongs to the state. The state must ensure transparent rules of the game, understandable to absolutely everyone. Responsibility must apply to all enterprises without exception, and not on an selective basis. Also, these rules must be understandable to every citizen of the country," the ecologist said.
She noted that the country's leadership should develop a comprehensive environmental protection program, which will be supported by real implementation mechanisms and responsibility for its non-fulfillment.
"We cannot turn a blind eye to equally important topics: environmental monitoring, quality environmental research, quality standards, which are not available in Ukraine. We must talk about a comprehensive program for several decades. Such a program must be supported by real implementation mechanisms and responsibility of both the state and business," she added.
