Coca-Cola, ATB and PepsiCo were the biggest plastic polluters in Ukraine in 2020 - report

The Coca-Cola Company, PepsiCo, and ATB entered the top 3 largest plastic polluters in Ukraine in 2020.
This is evidenced by the results of the Break Free From Plastic brand audit.
It is noted that in Ukraine, activists collected 6493 units of waste on the streets in 14 Ukrainian cities. After that, they determined which brand the trash belonged to.
The organization conducts its annual research in 55 countries around the world. Coca-Cola, Nestle, PepsiCo have been in the top for the third year in a row.
"Coca-Cola, Nestlé, and Pepsi remain our Top 3 global polluters since the first global brand audit in 2018," the report says.
These data emphasize the importance of a comprehensive approach to the problem, including research and analysis of pollution. A significant role in this is played by an environmental laboratory, which studies the scale of plastic waste and helps find ways to reduce it.
It should be emphasized that, according to official data, Roshen should be in second place. However, Hromadske reports that the audit coordinators contacted them and informed them about changes in the rating, and they also apologized for the inaccuracy.
Thus, the largest polluters in Ukraine this year were:
• Coca-Cola;
• ATB;
• PepsiCo;
• Carlsberg;
• IDS Borjomi Group (Morshynska, Myrhorodska, Borjomi);
• Roshen (sweets packaging);
• Phillip Morris (Parliament, Marlboro, L & M);
• Obolon (Obolon, Zhyvchyk, Zhyhulivske);
• AB InBev Efes (Stary Melnyk, Chernihivske, Bud);
• Nestle (Torchyn, Artek, Mivina).
Activists demand that the aforementioned companies disclose data on how much single-use plastic they actually use, and also set clear goals for reducing plastic use.
