MHP received the "eco-Oscar" for the third consecutive year in the "ECOtransformation" project

On November 20, the winners of the "ECOtransformation-2020" project were awarded in Kyiv.

According to its organizers, recognition at their annual event is intended to promote the formation of a new system of values, to support business community leaders who, despite economic difficulties, foster people's respect for their land, care for its preservation and prosperity. For the third year in a row, MHP agroholding became a laureate of the "ECOtransformation" project. This time with a project to restore the fertility of Ukrainian soils, which won in the nomination "Eco-innovation and sustainable development".

In Ukraine, trends threatening agriculture continue to grow. According to expert estimates, annual losses due to the loss of NPK (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium - ed.) in soils due to erosion amount to about 5 billion US dollars, and for 1 hryvnia of added value in crop production, there is 1/3 hryvnia of losses from erosion.

Responding to global challenges, MHP agroholding has built an effective model for using organic waste generated during the activities of the enterprises that are part of the company. This model provides for the production of "green" energy, as well as organic mineral fertilizers at two biogas complexes built by the company in Vinnytsia and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

MHP biogas complexes produce organic fertilizers in solid and liquid forms. Both are universal and balanced, containing a full range of necessary NPK macro- and microelements, organic compounds. Thanks to its properties, this product can restore soil fertility and deacidify them, increase humus content. All this leads to an increase in yield.

MHP notes that in this way the company demonstrates its concern for future generations, and also keeps pace with leading global companies, implementing breakthrough technologies.

— We used to think that Ukraine is the "breadbasket of Europe", and Ukrainian soils are among the most fertile in the world. However, statistics show that over the past 100 years, our chernozems have lost a significant part of their humus - the main fertile component, - said Oleksandr Dombrovsky, Deputy Chairman of the Board of MHP. — This year, MHP launched a pilot program "Restoration of Ukrainian soil fertility with organic fertilizers" based on the "Biogas Ladyzhyn" biogas complex in Vinnytsia region. The program is based on a circular economy model. Our goal is sustainable and balanced development of the agricultural sector of the region, the basis of which is environmentally friendly production and fertile Ukrainian soils.

MHP already uses these fertilizers on its fields. The company also launched a pilot project on the use of post-biogas production fertilizers by local farmers in Vinnytsia region.

We would like to remind you that in 2019, one of the MHP Group's enterprises - PJSC «Myronivsky Plant for the Production of Cereals and Compound Feeds» - received an eco-Oscar for a project to process grain and oilseed production waste into briquettes, whose calorific value is better than that of ordinary firewood. They can be used for heating both residential and industrial premises.

"Every year, the MHP team demonstrates an example of sustainable development, technology changes, and the implementation of innovations in the field of environmental protection, preservation, and restoration," said Lyudmyla Tsyganok, head of the "ECOtransformation" project and president of the Professional Association of Ecologists of Ukraine. "In any project, the first step is very difficult, and biogas complexes are no exception. We wish MHP success on this difficult path."
